SRBA, A Community Focused Organization
In February of 2004, a small group of business owners in the Slippery Rock area met with the intention of discussing and organizing the outline of what the Slippery Rock Business Association would look like. The small group discussed dues, meetings, bylaws, officers and how the organization could grow the business community in Slippery Rock and the surrounding area.
The Butler County Chamber of Commerce approached the group and offered to make the newly formed SRBA an affiliate of the Chamber. This became a huge resource for the SRBA as it enabled the SRBA to have insurance and legal support through the Chamber, as well as having their President sit as a member of the SBRA Board.
The SRBA held their first official meeting in March 2004 at the Apple Butter Inn, with around 30 business owners in attendance. The meeting was extremely successful and the enthusiasm of the Slippery Rock business owners proved that a business association was needed and wanted in Slippery Rock. Today the SRBA has nearly 90 members, and continues to grow and prosper, supporting the business in the area and bringing in new ones.
