Hi! I’m Erica of Erica Dietz Photography and I take couples behind the scenes of their own weddings.

The secret is that I photograph it all. When the bride’s dad sneaks over and cuts himself a slice from the wedding cake, or the groom’s uncle rips his pants right before the ceremony and your bridesmaid has to sew him up, I am right there documenting it all with my camera. There is more to weddings than just portraits; there are *stories*.

After leaving my job as a photojournalist, I took what I loved most about working at the newspaper – the stories, meeting new people, the excitement – and bring that to my wedding photography business. As a result of my time at the newspaper, I am ruthlessly authentic and go beyond candid photos of the couple laughing to dig deep into the story of the wedding as a whole. My ideal couple wants to see what their wedding felt like. Sure, they want great portraits of themselves, but my couples are also excited about photos that are REAL. It doesn’t matter if it’s a rural farm wedding or the chicest venue in downtown Pittsburgh, my couples are there for a good time.

Last year I had the honor of being awarded Best of the Burgh by Pittsburgh Magazine, as well as being ranked among the Top 50 Global Wedding Photojournalists by the Wedding Photojournalist Association. I am currently ranked 3rd in the state of Pennsylvania by the Wedding Photojournalist Association–I truly love what I do! Additionally, I also love photographing high school seniors and families who value moments over stiff posing.

My husband and I moved to Slippery Rock in 2018 and we are so happy to call this home! You may catch us walking around campus or the Saturday morning market with our two golden retrievers, Roxanne and Stella, and our Australian Shepherd named Belle. They are very friendly, and yes you can pet them!
